My final assignment was a documentary. We had to choose an idea that we could capture pictures of too create a body of work that tells a story. My documentary is on flowers because flowers are symbolic. Flowers are like people just without the ability to talk. Not every flower you see is meant to be beautiful. Some flowers you see are "perfect" while others look bruised. My topic isn't the most "out of this world" idea but it's the only thing that seemed to come to mind. I think looking at the flowers in Photoshop i felt that I could really change up the color anyway I wanted because once the picture is taken I can't change what was already taken nor can i change what the flower looked like in the first place. Although my documentary is based on something that most people would call basic, I think that my thought process and my explanation is was makes the flowers interesting not to mention the colors of the flowers.

Click to see enlarged image Candid street photography is harder that what I expected for it to be. Looking at examples it seemed like a simple off guard, but continuing forward with the assignment my opinion changed. Having to go out in the streets and take pictures I was very nervous because I didn't know what the outcome would be. Someone could've took the camera or I could've dropped it etc. Being out in the streets having to take photographs of people is a lot of work because its constant movement. I can't make the world stop just to take a photo of people laughing or walking a certain way. Pertaining to my choice of location I wanted to shoot somewhere that I knew would have a look of movement so I chose the movie theater and function at school. My camera was either on Aperture, Shutter speed, or ISO. Everything was set on automatic because changing the settings after every picture takes seconds and those few seconds determine if I get a good shot. Composition elements that you would find in my shots are rule of thirds, diagonals, and viewpoint. Overall this assignment was a learning experience for me to realize, not everything is as easy as it appears.
The fill flash assignment was basically for us to use the flash to fill in our model. We were suppose to expose for the background using the light meter and then have to flash bring light to the model. Fill flash is mostly used in situations where its cloudy or to dark outside. Without using the flash the image is just going to be dark and then there is no use for the image. You can also use fill flash in natural light photos when certain spots look to dark. Overall, using the flash gives the image a more professional look versus something that looks like it was taken off a cell phone.
My multiple exposure shot is named The Darkest Days because I wanted my photo to symbolize depression and sorrow. My photo is combined of three photos, a tree, a girl, and eyeballs. My photo looks this way because I used Photoshop. In Photoshop I edited all three of my photos separately and then combined them into one changing my setting to overlay. My idea was to have a person curled up in her eyes because it resembles bullying and how it continues to spread over our youth. I wanted my photo to be in a contrast of black and white to show how dark bulling can be. I was able to capture this shot because I used the macro lens to get an extreme close up on her eyes. I basically held the camera in my hand with no tripod and twisted the macro lens for it to zoom in.
This photo was created for my midterm. I was told to choose items that represented me , take photos of them and combine them into one. My idea was to look up in the sky as if i was thinking about my items and why I love them so much, hence the reason why my items are floating on clouds. I chose each item for it's own particular reason. For instance I chose to use my "The Coldest Water" bottle because currently I'm a brand ambassador for the company and I carry my water bottle around everywhere with me. The book "Paper Towns" was chosen because currently that is the book I am reading. My perfume and lotion from Bath and Body Works is incorporated because its my favorite perfume scent, that's actually the third time I have purchased it because I love it so much. The "Beat by Dre" headphones in my photo is my favorite item because I use them all the time , i can't go anywhere without them, and there rose-gold which is my favorite color. Overall the assignment was fun and exciting.

My first assignment was to demonstrate depth of field manually on my camera. I shot two photographs. Aliyah's portrait was set for F3.5. My portrait was set for F11. I learned when aperture is open the depth of field is shallow. When the aperture is closed the depth of field is deep.
